The Bright Interactive Atom will help students take a complex abstract science concept and demonstrate it in a hands on way. Students struggle with atomic science because it is not something they can see or handle - they have no experience with the vocabulary or concept. Even with videos and computer simulations many of our students are getting left behind. Our students, which include a high population of multi-lingual learners, will benefit from having a visual, tactile learning method. So often in our classrooms students are stuck on screens for most of their learning day, this tool allows a much needed screen break increasing engagement and comprehension. The Interactive Atom also lends itself well to gamification of the atomic curriculum. Giving students different elements and isotopes to "build" and timing them will bring new and difficult vocabulary to life in an engaging way.
