I am a second grade teacher who has been in our school for over 10 years. Our school is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It is an neighborhood which is ethnically and economically diverse. Many of our students live in the surrounding housing projects and homeless shelters. We also have a large population of English language learners who are new to the country. Despite all the challenges, our students come to school ready and eager to learn everyday.
