I will use these materials to create a Maker Space in my classroom. A Maker Space will equip my students for the 21st century. Our Maker Space will help my students work together, make decisions, problem solve and use their imagination. It will help them to "think." The Maker Space will be an inviting space in our classroom where the students can use hands-on materials in every subject. The students can create characters or a setting from a book they just read to help them with retell. They can use the materials to create a habitat for an animal we have been studying. A student who is struggling to remember the spelling of a Fry Word, can use materials to spell that word. The students can use the materials to solve equations and make representations in math. The materials will be set up in baskets on the shelves so that the students have easy access. My students need to have access to hands-on building and art materials that they can feel, smell and see to engage all their senses. They need to be able to create and collaborate so they can be ready for the future.
