Link Crew Leaders are juniors and seniors who applied to be a part of this freshman mentorship program. Many were recommended by teachers. Some have been involved throughout their high school years. Some just were drawn to the program because they empathize with incoming freshmen. They want to help ensure that our new freshmen are connected to the school and understand what it takes to be successful and to graduate. Our school just completed 3 years of turnaround, funded and supervised by local, state and federal guidance. We have succeeded in many ways, and the cultural change in the halls, the classrooms and the community is spectacular. We are proud of our school, our opportunities, and we want to ensure our incoming freshmen understand what it means to be a proud. We are inner-city and serve primarily Hispanic students. Almost all students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many work to help their families survive. This school is their sanctuary.
