My students are responsible, respectful, and safe. They treat others with respect and courtesy. They work hard to achieve their goals and promote progress in Reading, Writing, and Math. We always try to solve our differences and keep bullying out of our classroom. Problem-solving is a key factor in promoting success in second grade. The students are creative and are good at retelling the stories that they have read. Currently, they are working in teams of four to design and then present research reports on various species of dolphins. This has truly piqued their interest. My students feel respected and safe in their current learning environment. Asking questions is not a scary thing. They know that no question is a bad one. Developing trust and a rapport with my students has been a big goal of mine this year. Students will not work where they are not appreciated or feel valued. My favorite quote is by Teddy Roosevelt: "Do What You Can With What You Have, Where You Are."
