Students here have few opportunities to engage in STEM activities outside of school and many even lack access to the internet once they leave campus. My goal is to increase technical prowess and creativity with modern technology in a new Makerspace Lab that I have created bt offering opportunities in areas such as computer coding, robotics, and even the use of 3D printing to enhance their creativity. This new lab has already been outfitted with a new 3D printer with accessories, multiple PC's, NXT robotics kits, but what it is lacking are tablets to run many of the programs required. With the addition of the iPads, my students will be able to "take the next step" and directly link the new Makerspace Lab hardware with appropriate software needed to engage their learning and thrive in an evolving technological landscape. Our students will be directly impacting their learning by adhering to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) student standards: Empowering the learner, digital citizenship, knowledge constructor, innovative designer, computational thinker, creative communicator, and global collaborator.
