Students have been struggling with the adjustment back to in-person learning after time spent in virtual learning. I have seen so many students who have struggled with re-learning school behavior in the classroom after having been at home for so many months. These children have a harder time sitting still. Keeping their focus on their work is also challenging. Access to alternative seating options will benefit kids who need a little extra wiggle room as they settle back into school. Students also are requiring increased emotional support due to the uncertainty and anxiety about the pandemic. The pillows I'm requesting will go into a wellness room at our school - a place designed for any student to use when they need a break or a moment to collect themselves. Pillows and flexible seating will help make this room a more inviting safe space where students can feel comfortable taking a few minutes to practice their emotional regulation coping skills and to calm down from their big emotions.
