I am requesting classroom library books to help support my students. It is very important for children to develop early literacy skills. It is the basis for all other subjects. I want my students to read every day. Having a classroom library with books on their level helps foster confidence and eventually independence. The books will be used in small, guided reading groups with the teacher, independently, and with partners. Having sets of non fiction books will not only expand the children's reading interests, but will help them with their writing skills as well. The high interest fiction books sparks amazing conversations among the students and grand conversations with the teacher. I am also requesting durable book bags for the students to store their independent reading books. They will be able to take the books home on a daily basis to practice with their families.
