I have been very fortunate to have spent the last 9 years of my life teaching in a Middle school environment. This is the first year I have taught 8th graders. While I really enjoy the maturity level, they are the most unmotivated students I have ever taught. They often seem listless and bored, so I am writing this grant to bring excitement and interest to my classroom. In spite of the economic and sometimes academic challenges our students face we remain an excellent school maintaining either a "B" or an "A" for the last 7-8 years. Over half of our students are on Free or Reduced lunch. We also house a magnet program for gifted and talented students who aspire to take a fast track to college. Our school has about 820 students total, and 60 faculty members.
