My students are from a very low income neighborhood in the heart of SE Washington, D.C. My students are 9th Grade through 12th Grade Seniors. My school is full of amazing teachers as well as students that are very eager to learn, yet do not have the resources that they need. Here over 80% of the students qualify for free lunch from the school, and most students also receive breakfast and dinner. As an art teacher, my objective is to teach my students a positive outlet or way to express themselves. Through art they are able to express things that they may not be able to communicate with words.
