My students are in a K-12 school that is located in an inner city. Most are from low income families where creating art and having supplies is not an option for them. My school helps to teach students to be responsible, respectful and safe. We encourage further education by preparing our students for the future. Most teachers in the building believe in the power of the arts. I am the only art teacher but many of the teachers create art in their room as part of their curriculum. They need to use paint from the art room often to be able to accomplish this. I feel it is important for all teachers to incorporate art so I like to be able to have others' use some paint. My students' feel the collaboration among the teachers and staff in regards to the arts; this helps them to realize the importance. My students love art, love to create, love to express, love to see their art work hung on the walls for display.
