Our school is extremely diverse, as in, second most diverse school district in the entire country, according to a 2007 article in the New York Times. We have about 19 different home languages represented on our campus. They are a humble and accepting group which welcomes the newcomer because they at one time or another were that newcomer. We are located in Sacramento, but have many San Francisco Bay transplants. We look suburban, but have many urban kids-- I call us "pseudo-suburban." First impressions are that we are a rich school and community, but more than half our students receive free and reduced lunch.
