While distance learning I provide virtual read alouds via YouTube. My students love to watch the videos and read along to some of our favorite stories. My students are bilingual learners and it can be difficult to find good Spanish texts. Our library also lacks books with characters of different backgrounds and cultures. I am excited to add more books in Spanish with characters that my students can relate to! I am also looking forward to teaching my students more about inspirational people such as Ruby Bridges, Cesar Chavez and Celia Cruz. We also love to learn through art. This year I would like to be able to provide better paper and crayon choices for a diverse range of skin tones in the classroom. Multicultural construction paper and crayons will allow us to explore who we are and celebrate our differences.
