I work at an independent charter school. We focus on career and college. I feel blessed to work at a school where we really focus as a team on how we can help our students. I make an effort to visit the homes of each student, so that home and school are partners. Our school focus is inner-city children. We have an extended school day and school year. All students and staff participate in three weeks of summer school. We work on character building through all school activities. One of my favorite character building activities is reading buddies. We buddy up with a grade level lower than ours to read to them.
