My students are diverse and come from a number of cultures and backgrounds. The group of 8th graders I have this year lost a student/peer/friend in both 6th & 7th grade, so we have a lot of mental health issues we are dealing with in the lines of teen/child suicide. Giving them a place where they can come and talk, or just hang out is becoming more & more crucial as they get older.
