I have a typical group of fourth graders this year. Our school is in a lower socio-economic area, and many students ride the bus for long periods of time every day. They are generally very hard working and dedicated to learning. Some students face challenges every day, due to hearing loss, attentional issues, processing delays, and much more. Reading is a struggle for many of them, while math is an area of strength. When we read different stories every week, they enjoy them, but when we read a whole book together, their excitement is so obvious. They never want to stop reading the book! They just have to know what is next!
