My students are mainly inner city kids who at times do not even have many of the necessary supplies needed for school. They are almost all receiving free lunch. My school in an international baccalaureate school for the elementary level. Which means we teach various themed PYP units through out the year. They love having the chance to be artistic and create. This is difficult as my school does not have the funding to purchase a lot of art supplies as the money goes to normal school supplies. I want to give my students an opportunity to really dive into the artistic process this year through our PYP unit titled "expressing ourselves through art". To truly be able to do this we need to have enough art supplies for the class to do sculpting, painting and drawing beyond the crayons they are used to.
