Our school is a low income school with 95% of our students on free and reduced lunch. We have students with many different ethnic backgrounds. Our school has struggled in the area of math for several years. We are trying different approaches to improve their math skills. Since many of our students don't have the opportunity to join chess clubs outside of school because their families can't afford them, a school chess club would be great. Research has shown an increase of academic student performance in students who play chess.
