I teach sixth-grade English Language Arts at a middle school in Glen Burnie, Maryland. We proudly serve a racially and socioeconomically diverse population of students with a high number who qualify for free and reduced meals. This proposal for funds to expand and update my classroom library supports my school's goal to strengthen literacy skills that may have been lost due to the lack of in-person instruction during the pandemic. The selection of books was purposefully chosen to appeal to the diverse interests and reading levels of the children in my classroom.
