For the 2014/15 school year , I will be given a group of advanced 8th grade artists for our 35 minute homeroom period. These students are incredibly gifted. I would like them to have an opportunity to work collaboratively on a lively mural for their school. The mural will be designed and created by the students with my guidance. Our school is in a low income urban district where gang violence is prevalent. The students come from diverse backgrounds, mostly Hispanic, Vietnamese, and African American. Our school has been under new administration for two years and is rapidly transforming into a respectable school where students can feel safe and receive a quality education. Our elective program is gaining strength and our talented students are given an opportunity to shine!
