My students range in age from 14 to 19. They all have a special education designation or are reading far below grade level. The majority of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds and most live in public housing. My students are reading below level but they are very bright and inquisitive. The level of enthusiasm and inquisitiveness that is revealed when a novel is accessible to them is AMAZING. I had great success with the book NIGHT, I am hoping that they will respond to this book in the same manner.
