My students are a wonderful group. They go to school in New York City where most classes are completely full. However, each day I am greeted with smiling faces ready to learn. They come to school eager and excited to tackle the day's challenges. Each of my students are struggling readers who are at levels at least a year and a half behind grade level. As a teacher it is my job ensure they are cared for, listened to, motivated, encouraged, empowered, safe, respected and above all happy. They are taught to believe in themselves and accomplish anything and everything they put their minds to. My classroom is their safe place.

About my class
