Our students are some of the brightest in NYC, who challenge themselves everyday both in and out of the classroom. Many of our graduates pursue a career in the STEAM area. To help them excel in their future college work and beyond, we need more resources for the hands-on and student-driven learning. In our school, most teachers are still using overhead projectors and no classroom has a dedicated computer. We rely on typical arts and crafts supplies instead of professionally designed models to teach advanced concepts. How can we prepare our students for college and the workforce beyond without proper tools to allow them exploring and experimenting their ideas? In my classroom, I encourage my students to ask questions, generate ideas, and conduct experiments on their ideas. The generous support from you will help them exploring the world and make learning fun!
