Our school is a college preparatory expeditionary learning school in which students take an active and conscientious role in civic live. My students are in grades nine through twelve (between 13 and 19 years old), most are minorities, and most are below the poverty level. They are all students with disabilities, yet they enjoy learning and most plan to go to college. When the time comes, some are eligible for scholarships that are merit-based, as well as financial. Math games, scientific investigations, puzzles, and other hands-on projects and computer games are highly motivating activities. Students in my classroom, and in my school, work together on projects that cross curricula, and in my small special-education classroom I am encouraged to develop my own creative projects. The MakerBot 3D printer will be especially inspiring and instructive for my students.
