Our school is located in an area of high poverty. In fact, out of the 172 public schools on the island of Oahu, we are listed as the 5th school having the most children living in poverty. Being that our student population comes from an area of high poverty, our video production class gives students experience with technologies and innovative learning tools that they may not otherwise be exposed to. Our class teaches students to problem-solve, work in a team, communicate effectively and tell stories creatively through video. Last year our students produced a video that was a finalist in a statewide competition, and this year they produced a video that will air on local TV. They are an innovative, hard-working, creative bunch of students and I am very proud to be their teacher.
