The headsets will be used by students classified as English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). One of the components of our curriculum is a computer program called Imagine Learning which contains both listening and speaking components in addition to reading and writing lessons. The headsets will allow students to listen to lessons as well as record themselves to improve oral and listening fluency. It will also help them prepare for the WIDA test that is administered every year to show mastery of the English language. Once the students have passed the WIDA assessment, by showing mastery of the English language, they can be exited from the ESOL program and mainstreamed into general English classes.
