My students love it when I read aloud to them. But throughout the year, I have noticed they love sharing books with each other. They are excited and eager to tell their friends about the characters of a new book from the library during independent reading, on the playground, or during lunch. They enjoy swapping books during reading time and giving each other recommendations about the books they have read. On library days, they cannot wait for a particular book to be returned so they can check it out and read it. They have so much enthusiasm for reading, it's not uncommon to see them so lost in their reading they don't notice it's time to transition to another subject.
