My students are those who have chosen to challenge themselves by taking advantage of the open enrollment policy for Advanced Placement US Government and Politics at our school. Going to a public school in the inner city, this is no easy choice, as it isn't the always the cool thing to be seen as smart and academics aren't always a priority for many of the students at our school. Despite these and many other obstacles they face in their daily lives my students have chosen to take this challenge in order to be more informed participants in our democracy.
