I truly believe that my students would greatly benefit from having a variety of books to read. My students LOVE reading and they have read all my books. They have constantly requested for more challenging books to read. This upcoming school year, I am fortunate to loop with my students to forth grade. Now that I am moving to forth grade with them, I need books that will meet their independent reading level and will continue to keep them interested in reading. Most of my students are English Language Learners and are reading above grade level. Reading is a vital role in their English Language development. Through a variety of reading genres my students will be able to express themselves creatively. This will help in their writing and speaking skills. In addition, by reading a variety of stories, my students reinforce concepts and skills necessary for meeting the content standards such as, text types, character traits, cause and effect, main idea and detail, vocabulary development, conventions/use of standard English, etc. Through daily reading, my students will be able to access books to enrich their educational lives and continue to help support their achievement. Supporting this project, will help me foster my students' love for reading, by providing them with appropriate books that meet their independent reading level to enhances their education.
