Our high school is located in a rural area of West Virginia with roughly 900 students who attend grades 9-12. Our state continues to rank as one of the states with the highest obesity rates in the nation. We have created an after school wellness program to help address this negative health statistic and improve the overall health of our students. The program is available to any student at the high school, and many students are choosing to attend on a regular basis. These students are motivated to make changes in their health by participating in a variety of physical activities. Staff and community volunteers are helping by teaching and modeling lifelong fitness strategies and recreational exercise routines.
