The journalism class is comprised of about twenty students ranging through all four grades in high school. These students go to all events on campus and in the community in order to create a newspaper that will appeal to the student population, parents, and the community around the school. These students live in an area that has a mix of well-to-do and poverty-stricken, with the majority being poverty-stricken. Most students ask to be transferred to this school because their other option is a heavily gang-infested school; therefore, the majority travel quite a distance to get here. Right now they are sharing the few available computers to write, edit, and design their newspaper. They are hoping that if they receive this donation, they can all work together to create more newspaper editions and hopefully even be able to create an online edition for more than just this community to see. Using updated, modern technology would be an amazing bonus to them.
