My students need a sensory-friendly space to practice self-regulation, social emotional skills, and coping skills. The Mindfulness Clubhouse is a nickname given to my classroom by one of my students. My goal is to create a space for them that is designed for their various learning styles. It should be calm and inviting, but still allows them to complete their work comfortably. Unfortunately, creating this space requires elements that are not district funded! Harsh fluorescent lighting and old plastic chairs just won't cut for many of my kiddos. They thrive in a space they can relax and focus. The items on this list will help The Mindfulness Clubhouse be the Calm Down Capital of my school!
