Amazing fourth graders will be given the opportunity to gather and build a writing community that makes academic achievement cool. This lunchtime writing club will bring together students that have something to share about their lives. Their numbers tell only a part of the story: 82% live "economically disadvantaged" and 58% could tell their stories in more than one language. The rest of their story lies inside of their untapped creativity. Given the chance, these students will share unique experiences. They will richly give voice to the daily life of today's urban child. Unlike other clubs or organizations, our writing community requires no try out or fees, only ink and inspiration where children's diverse stories will be heard, valued, and celebrated.
