I teach at a downtown Las Vegas school in a predominantly Hispanic population. About 98% of my students are on free and reduced lunch, but my school is a diamond in the rough as it is a strong tight-knit community where many of my students older siblings, aunts/uncles, parents have gone through this school in previous years. They may not have the largest incomes, but they do have the largest hearts and continuously want to prove their best academically, behaviorally, and socially. This is my 4th year teaching here and for the past 3 years, the average growth by my students in both math and reading has been over 2 years of growth in one academic school year.
