My kindergarten class is made up of twelve energetic students. All of my students are english language learners with their first language being Spanish. They are growing up in an inner-city neighborhood with most of their families barely getting by. These students are brought up in homes where education is a priority. My students have a love for learning even while they are faced with more learning obstacles than the average kindergartener. Because of the language barrier, they have to work twice as hard everyday to understand the material. Basic knowledge and vocabulary that an ordinary kindergartener would have walking in at the beginning of the year my students do not have. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow regardless of their background.
