By providing basic hygiene supplies for the students in my room, you've done both of these. As you know, middle school can be tough, both biologically and socially. The supplies you contributed to our room have made it possible for my students to feel better physically and appear more confident during their time at school.\r\nWhether it's not having these supplies in their home or simply forgetting to use them or bring them to school, having personal care products available here has been a huge blessing. After gym class, students can discreetly go wash and reapply deodorant. Girls who may not have feminine hygiene products available at home can casually grab a handful to take home to get them through the weekend. More comfortable, confident students means more mental space for learning. I was looking for some new books to make reading exciting for my young students. Most of them do not have books at home, so this is their first experience sitting and looking at a book. It is a challenge for four-year-olds to do this independently, but so rewarding and important. \r\n There are two types of books on this project for two different purposes. The first is the board books. Twice in our schedule, students have a brief quiet reading time. Quiet Reading is when they sit on our carpet and look at a book independently to read the pictures and enjoy. It is a skill that takes most of the year for them to achieve the patience and desire to engage with the book, but it is the first step to a lifetime of reading and loving books.\r\n The second set of books is picture books for the teacher to use during one of our two scheduled Read Alouds. We have especially liked the set of books that has an English copy and a Spanish copy. The Spanish copy is read before lunch, and the teacher speaks only in Spanish; then the English copy is read after lunch, and the teacher speaks only in English. We have noticed a change in excitement for this second read-aloud, because most of the students are ELL and they are often lost during book time. Now they know the story and can follow along, because they can understand. I will be looking to get more Spanish versions of the books I have so that we can do this every week.","fullyFundedDate":1755955236374,"projectUrl":"project/book-nook-rejuvenation/9593989/","projectTitle":"Book Nook Rejuvenation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Faber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9185746_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753105643794","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/christy-faber"},{"teacherId":8540303,"projectId":9364183,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting this project. The wave seats have been a benefit to two of my students who did not have the stamina to stay in a traditional chair for the entire school day. They have also been a benefit to me as I am pursuing a degree in special education. They have given me an opportunity to see how different assistive technology can benefit students. \r\n\r\nThe 3D printing materials have also helped me create devices to help several of my students maintain attention, improve their handwriting, and access math content. I have printed multiple fidgets to help student retain focus. I have printed pencil grips for students who have not mastered a good grip, and I have printed a set of numbers that helps students see the relationship between sums and their number partners. \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, I am able to support my students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1747577135129,"projectUrl":"project/fidgets-and-wiggles/9364183/","projectTitle":"Fidgets and Wiggles","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Korn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8540303"},{"teacherId":5701529,"projectId":9353129,"letterContent":"Thanks so much for contributing to our classroom library. The activities, supplies, and snacks have been a huge hit, last spring and now this new year, that we started on Monday already!\r\n\r\nAt the end of last year, my students so enjoyed reviewing what we learned in geography, by putting together the puzzles of the different continents. Students used the new supplies to create end of year projects. They also very much appreciated the granola bars, as most of them were playing more each day in the great weather which brought about extra hunger that our food service lunches didn't quite handle!\r\n\r\nIn the first few days of this new year, my incoming 5th and 6th grade student have been excited to see many of these supplies in our room as they explore. Many have already asked when they can use the variety of markers and put together the puzzles they've seen on the shelves.\r\n\r\nI appreciate your generosity. Our first day was Monday and my homeroom class this year is full of students I taught for just English last year when they were in 5th grade. When they got to choose a book for independent reading they were so excited to see the new options. Many students took home the new Bluelock and Demon Slayer graphic novels and returned them the next day, asking to read the next one in the series!\r\n\r\nIt excites me to see the joy in their eyes and the hear the energy in their voices when choosing books. Many students at our school have never developed a love of reading. Many have only been learning English for a couple years, some less. Others just come from families where reading has never been their top priority. So to have these kiddos come into school to begin a new year and be so thrilled about reading time, brings me so much hope for our year.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1746786958098,"projectUrl":"project/spirit-for-reading/9327116/","projectTitle":"Spirit for Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Parlin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5701529_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1535054005134","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5701529"},{"teacherId":5701529,"projectId":8958317,"letterContent":"My students were absolutely thrilled to receive these great new bouncy bands. Students argued over who could go get the box from the office, who could open the box and unwrap each piece, and who would get to use the 10 new bouncers. The laughter in our classroom was so loud we had to shut the door as students worked together, turning desks upside down (sometimes forgetting to take supply baskets off their racks and thus spewing pencils and books everywhere....), to stretch the bands between the two front legs of desks. Despite a bit of chaos with their arrival and setting up, our classroom has a great atmosphere today. Students who got first use of the bands are happily bouncing on them while completing their social studies projects. Students who didn't get to use them first are quietly working, hoping they will be picked soon to use them next. Thanks so much for making this happen for my students and me.
