I teach 24 2nd grade girls from one of the toughest neighborhoods in our nation. Our school is an all girls public school where we show our young women the values of friendship, sisterhood, integrity and academic achievement. My students desperately want to use their educations to raise their families out of poverty and be leaders in their their communities. There are a lot of factors working against the girls, but they still come to school with positive attitudes and delightful smiles, for they recognize that their educations are the greatest tools they will ever have. They believe in themselves and constantly work with an urgent and joyful attitude to achieve their goals.

About my class
