My students come from low income families. I have special needs children as well as emotionally challenged children. For some of my students, their classroom provides the only safe learning environment for them. They are excited to learn and are learning the value of education. Many of my students come from parents that did not have opportunity or support for basic education. We are located in a low income housing area and are plagued by gang activity. Our four schools serve many students with similar backgrounds. These students have taught me to value simple things in life. They have taught me the value of family and the importance of education.
