I have a classroom full of 26, energetic and enthusiastic kindergarten students. Because my school serves students from a low economic community, many of my students are not afforded the opportunities to interact with the educational benefits of technology and community and cultural activities like students in other areas. In previous years, our school has been identified as a Title I school, due to the high poverty rate of our students. Due to this fact, we were able to receive additional funds to support our students academic needs. However, this year our school slightly missed the qualifying percentage to be granted Title I status. This resulted in the lose of significant funds and resources to support our students needs.
