My school is made of students who do not have access to a lot of materials due to limited family income. As the club leader for the Arts & Crafts club for the past year, I have seen how the students thrive in the act of making something with their own hands. My school is located in the middle of a ring of public housing projects in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. The students live in the midst of poverty, crime, and challenge. It is hard for them to concentrate on the work with some of the struggles in their lives.
