I teach a fantastic and diverse group of students in Los Angeles who are constantly juggling a lot-both inside and outside of school. My classroom is a Title 1 space, which means my kids don't always have access to the extra 'fun' stuff that makes science stick, but their curiosity is endless. Lately, I’ve noticed a real sense of 'screen burnout.' They’re tired of looking at tablets and slides. They want to get their hands on something real. I’m requesting these science games and lab supplies because my students learn best when they’re 'doing', talking to each other, debating strategies, and actually seeing how a cell or an ecosystem works in front of them. These hands on activities and games will give them a much-needed break from the digital world and help them build those 'old school' critical thinking skills that are so important for their future.
