3rd grade requires students to remain on task for long periods of the day while we build stamina in reading and math. This is difficult for my students to do. I have many ADHD/ADD and Autistic students who get the "wiggles" during whole group instruction. This wobble seats will allow my students to wiggle and wobble and learn at the same time. Research shows that these seats allow for a child's body to be in constant motion while they remain focused and on task. Using this creative seating option for my socio-economically disadvantaged students will benefit each of them tremendously by helping them to maintain focus and engagement during instruction. However, I am most excited about using them for my autistic child and my ADHD children who need them most. Prior to writing this project, I borrowed one of these stools and used it with several of my students throughout the day and WOW! their behavior was completely transformed. Please help me get these for my classroom!
