My students come from a diverse background. They are a mixture of inner city students as well as new "arrivals" from other countries. Many of these student will go through elementary school without ANY exposure to an instrumental music program. I have seen music lesson CHANGE the lives of young people. It introduces children to a world they never new existed. These positive results translate to other areas of their lives including improved self esteem and better test scores in other areas. Without funding this could never be possible.
