My 4th grade students attend a public charter school with a focus on art integration. Our school receives some Title 1 funding. The students come from a variety of nearby communities and have different backgrounds. Some of them come from lower income families and receive free or reduced lunch. Some students have parents serving in the military. I love working with these kids who are eager to learn and achieve great things. Fourth grade is a pivotal time in a child's life as reading skills grow and students are able to read larger chapter books for pleasure. It is very exciting to hear kids talk about a favorite chapter book and recommend it to a friend.
