Having access to Scholastic Magazines will provide my students with an engaging, fun way to practice nonfiction with current events. Many of my students struggle with nonfiction due to lack of experiences and therefore not able to connect to the texts. As they read the articles about current events, we will work on making connections to themselves and the world. That is just one of the many comprehension strategies we will work on. We will also work on finding evidence in the text, using text features, finding main idea, and cause and effect, etc. Scholastic Magazines will help my students gain confidence in reading nonfiction.
