I teach a first grade sheltered class at a Title one school in Florida. A sheltered class is made up of English Language Learners. All of my students speak a language other then English at home. One of the biggest challenges we face is the lack of literacy at home. Some students never have the opportunity to read a book at home. Its a wonderful school, with a great staff, and we try to do everything we can in order to fill in the gaps our children come to school with.
