As I hope Janelle communicated, I do not want any gifts (your presence is more than enough). That said, if there are those among you who insist on doing something (again…unnecessary, but) I did want to offer an option. Janelle has committed her professional life to helping those less fortunate, and for many years now has worked at DonorsChoose.org. Most of you know this, and are familiar with the organization, but the short version is: DC is a crowdfunding site for classrooms in need around our country. The DC team vets classroom projects, we pick them, DC fulfills the orders, and teachers thank us. Simple. (www.donorschoose.org) My request: I have set up a site through DC populated with particular projects I think touch on some of Janelle’s passions (specifically, art projects in her various former hometowns: TX, CA, NY, NJ, AK). In lieu of a gift, I am asking you to go to the site and consider giving to <a href="http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html">a project of your choosing</a> or one of the projects we have set up. Through DC, I was able to find an anonymous donor who has generously offered to match all gifts! Great news! My plan is to surprise Janelle at the party with this news, and with all of you there; I think she will be incredibly grateful, as will all the children we help. If you have any questions, let me know; and please don’t tell Janelle!
