The stories also created opportunities for students to explore diverse perspectives while building empathy and cultural understanding.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an interactive experience. Students read independently, discuss ideas with partners and small groups, and reflect on how the themes and experiences in the books connect to their own lives and the world around them. The texts sparked thoughtful conversations and encouraged students to share their personal experiences, making reading both meaningful and relevant.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these books has been remarkable. When surveyed at the end of the semester, students identified these texts as their favorite part of the spring semester. Many students who do not typically see themselves represented in literature were excited to encounter characters and stories that felt familiar and authentic. Because these books are now part of our classroom library, they will continue to benefit future students for years to come, extending the impact of your generosity far beyond this school year. At the end of the round, we compare scorecards to see who had the day's hot score. The kids have a friendly competition, but always cheer each other on and are encouraging of new players. The lowest score wins a disc, and if time allows we have a CTP (closest to the pin) competition to give away an additional disc.\r\nAgain, none of this would be possible without your generous support.
