Zoom in, its Science!

My students need 3 digital microscopes to help each of our 3 science classrooms to become more interactive for the new school year.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what is was like to discover new things and want to learn more? My students have not yet been able to go beyond the basic picture in their textbooks. This is not enough to capture their imaginations, but with a digital microscope, we can help them discover their inner scientists.

Our students all live within blocks of our urban school district in California.

These students deserve the best education they can get, which is why our new school was designed to best fit the needs of our students. We are focused on a small school model, that allows for every child to be successful in life, leadership and college. Within the two years of us opening, these students have grown years in their learning. This is why we must continue to support their interest to learn by having more technology at our small school to best meet the needs of our growing population. This technology will allow my students to become more hands-on in the science lab experiments and expand their learning beyond their textbook.

My Project

With the use of a digital microscope in the classroom, my students will be able to become more in control of their learning. The students will be able to explain their findings to the entire class by displaying it through the digital microscope; at which will allow the students to present their findings in greater detail. While teaching the class about cells, we can zoom in on animal and plant cells, like the cell of an onion, and make real life connections to the parts of a cell. This can be the beginning of great explorations in science and beyond.

The benefits of having digital microscopes for my students to use, are limitless.

This goes beyond the classroom, into their life experiences of how systems work, and how technology and science can work together. This will later support their learning in high school and beyond into college, as many of them have already mentioned their long term goals to be doctors and scientist. Thank You for give my students a chance to become successful individuals to society and life long learners.
