Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Dariana is new to our yearbook family this year, yet with her enthusiasm and leadership skills, she has quickly become an asset as our marketing chief. She manages her team of students with her positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Often times in our yearbook/journalism class we are reliant upon the local, professional photography studios to supplement many of our layouts. Sometimes the photos we get are usable, and sometimes they are not. Our marketing team came up with idea that we could be doing these supplemental photos "in-house," if we had access to studio equipment.
Students will develop many skills through having their own studio set-up within our class. Students will learn college and career skills such as: customer relations/public relations - in dealing with students and staff members they are photographing, concept brainstorming/problem solving - how they plan and execute the portrait sessions, time management - in meeting set yearbook deadlines, and the cohesive relationship between technology and art - using the technology and digital media to produce a visually artistic, tangible product to share with the rest of the student body.
In Their Own Words
Our project idea is to develop our own photography studio set-up within our yearbook class in order to not have to rely on outside sources for photos. This project will start us off with the basic equipment we need, and hopefully we can grow from there.
I plan to continue my leadership position as the marketing chief of the school's yearbook and to expand my position to include heading up the studio photography staff. I will lead my staff by help them to set-up appointments, trouble-shooting and brainstorming photo sessions, and come up with marketing ideas to promote our new studio capabilities.
This project is important to out school because we will not longer have to use outside sources for something that we can learn to do ourselves. It will help us build artistic and technological skills that we can use later in college and in our careers.
